Squid Game Season 2 by Netflix
Squid Game took the world by storm in 2021, becoming Netflix’s most-watched series ever. The South Korean dystopian thriller follows a group of debt-ridden individuals who compete in deadly children’s games for a chance to win a life-changing sum of money.
The show was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. Given its popularity, it was no surprise that Netflix quickly greenlit a second and third season.
Here’s what we know about Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3:
Squid Game Season 2 by Netflix
Release Date
Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for Season 2. However, some sources have speculated that it could be released in late 2024. Season 3 is expected to follow sometime after that.
Cast
Most of the main cast from Season 1 is expected to return for Season 2, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-joon. There are also rumors that some new characters will be introduced.
Plot
The plot of Season 2 is still under wraps, but director Hwang Dong-hyuk has said that it will explore the backstories of some of the characters from Season 1. He has also said that the new season will be “more intense and action-packed” than the first.
Filming
Filming for Season 2 began in July 2023 and wrapped in June 2024. Filming for Season 3 is expected to begin soon.
What Else We Know
- Season 2 will consist of 6 episodes. Season 3 is expected to have a similar number of episodes.
- The show will be directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who also directed Season 1.
- The show will be produced by Siren Pictures, the same company that produced Season 1.

What We’re Hoping For
We’re hoping that Season 2 will be just as good as Season 1, if not better. We’re also hoping to get some answers to the many questions that were left unanswered at the end of Season 1.
